The hike up to Vernal Falls from Yosemite Valley is a scenic one and makes for a great half day workout. The trailhead is located at the Happy Isles Nature Center, which was the unfortunate location of a tragic rock slide that occurred earlier this summer (1996). The last half mile of the 1.5 mile hike is the most beautiful with the trail passing just in front of the falls, and then making its way up to the top where a little lake called Emerald Pools is located. During the climbing up, on the appropriatly named "Mist Trail" we were treated to a bright rainbow while listening to the roar of the falling water.
The final two pictures were taken at Tioga Pass which is the eastern entrance to the park.
